In celebration of the return of the swallows, here's one skimming over a barley field in Pembrokeshire. This is quite an old photo but remains one of my favourites. I love the shape of the swallow's outstretched wings and tail, and the abstract textures of the barley. These birds are so fast that I don't think I ever noticed their delicate white tail-dots before I started photographing them!
