No. 27, 19th April: Coot

I took this photo of a coot on a cycle ride outside Cambridge last summer. Initially I found the photos I was taking a little boring, but as this coot edged into an inlet I was able to use the bushes in the foreground to frame it. I love the rich greens in this photo, and the way the coot's beak is turned downwards to meet its reflection.

Technical details: Canon 7D MKII + 100-400mm lens at 400mm; 1/500 sec at f/5.6; ISO 640.
