No. 29, 21st April: Painted lady

This is a photo from last summer, when we saw a bit of a boom in painted lady numbers here in the UK. It's amazing to think that painted ladies migrate all the way from Africa each year - a migration that takes them up to six generations to complete!


I love the way the mottled colours in the background of this image match the patchwork of colours on the painted lady's wings.


Technical details: Canon 7D MKII + 100-400mm lens at 400mm; 1/1000 sec at f/5.6; ISO 320.
